My name is Georgie and I am a free-spirited, lover of life and my passions lie in inspiring others, to improve their happiness through; a balanced yoga practice, positive vibes and good food. I trained in the northern mountains of India, in a region called Dharamshala. This inspired the creation of ‘The Knotted Yogi’ and where my journey as a yoga teacher began.
Since then I’ve been fortunate enough to share the beautiful practice of yoga in Sri Lanka and India too, teaching people from all over the world from all warps of life. My travels have given me a broad and worldly range of knowledge around the practice, shaping me into the teacher I am today. Growing up in London, I have been able to draw elements from a westernised yoga practice to cater to the needs of my students.
The combination of learning, practicing and teaching while following my Sri Lankan roots over the last 3 years, has cemented my love and passion for eastern values within my teaching.

Yin Yoga- Fewer poses held for longer periods creating a slow paced meditative practice which is much more suited to an evening class as it can help with sleep, relaxation and de-stressing at the end of a busy day. “We contracted Georgie (The Knotted Yogi) last year to offer a yoga practice to our employees based at our West London offices. After an initial taster session, the classes are going strong and the participant feedback has been great. The class is accessible to all and we have complete beginners to experienced yogis – Georgie creates a very inclusive atmosphere which is non-competitive and where each person can go at their own pace. You can see that a lot of time and effort goes into planning the class, with some very apt tunes and impeccable timing. I guess the best testament to Georgie’s ability is the number of returning customers of which there are plenty.”

“Georgie held yoga sessions with us in our offices earlier this year. We were a team of 8 of, all with mixed abilities, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it – our sessions were in the morning before work and kick started our days the best way. Georgie is fantastic, very friendly and made us feel at ease from the very start. We look forward to heaving Georgie back with us soon!”

“Georgie is a fantastic yoga teacher. I’ve practiced yoga for three years, and have tried several styles and disciplines, but Georgie’s is the most dynamic class I’ve ever been to. From the moment you walk into the room, she provides an atmosphere, with candles and fairy lights to calming music and relaxing scents. No class is ever the same, and Georgie blends hatha, ashtanga, and vinyasa styles in her flows.
What makes her such a great teacher is her willingness to explain things. She’ll talk you through a breathing technique or an asana with ease. She also knows just how to push her students. I’ve been going to her classes for about nine months now, and she’s fantastic at reminding her students not to fall back into those pesky ‘bad habits’. In talking us through the breathing and the movements, Georgie always takes care to make sure that no one injures themselves, and will adjust everyone in the class to make sure they’re moving correctly.
Aside from her fantastic yogi knowledge, she’s such a cheerful spirit and a joy to learn from and practice with! We are so sad to be losing her this August, but can’t wait for her to come back from Sri Lanka in October!”

“We are really enjoying the classes. It’s a great venue and I think Georgie is using the space really well. I am impressed at how welcoming , attentive and encouraging she is, keeping in mind different abilities and needs. Maxine, aged 16 and me, at the tender age of 52, are looking forward to our Tuesday evenings. I have been to a number of classes over the years and think Georgie is doing a great job.”

“Georgie’s passion for yoga really resonates in her classes. As a beginner I’ve felt completely comfortable with positions compared to other experiences I’ve had. Georgie takes the time to cater for all ages and abilities. A great teacher and lovely spirit, would highly recommend!”
